Resources in our Community
Lutheran Church Missouri Synod
Iowa District East/ LCMS
In 2007, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s Ministry to the Armed Forces launched Operation Barnabas. Through this program — the only one of its kind in the U.S. — together with our congregations, we accomplish three key goals:
1. Care for Reserve chaplains and their families and congregations.
2. Train and assist local congregations in the care, support and outreach to all military connected people in their congregations and their communities.
3. Serve as a resource to other organizations that provide care to military connected people.
Our desire is to enable our congregations to lead their communities in welcoming these military families back home. They have borne the weight of repeated deployments, and we can prepare to receive them home in concert with local chambers of commerce, schools and medical facilities.
Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ) networks churches across denominational lines and leverages our collective impact to bless those in need in our community.
We provide our clients with free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and material items. We support couples through the adoption process and assisted many others on their journey to become successful parents.
Valley Lutheran School has a full curriculum of core courses for Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Located in the heart of the Cedar Valley, in Cedar Falls, VLS welcomes students from diverse faith traditions who desire spiritual, academic and co-curricular growth in a safe environment.
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank serves 16 counties in northeast Iowa. We have eight programs and over 200 member agencies who strive to fight for those who are hungry in northeast Iowa.
The LCMS has created a number of materials that are freely available for our congregation to use to encourage our members to learn about “Joy:fully Lutheran.”
