A LIFE QUOTE “God created every one of us to shine brightly in the world He made for us. Each person is a candle, sustaining His light to share with others. When a baby is aborted, his or her candle is extinguished. Clearly, that is not what God wants for us. None of us is unimportant to God; He cares about all of us, no matter our size, age, parents, gender, or disabilities. Every candle has a special purpose God designed.” Christina, Missouri, Lutherans For Life Essay Contest – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • lutheransforlife.org “Hurting from abortion? Word of Hope can help. word-of-hope.org; 888.217.8679.”
BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES If you’re suffering today from a recent loss or tragedy, or struggling with a concern that’s been with you for many years, please know you’re not alone. It’s not only okay but God-pleasing to reach for help. God created us to live in community, where we share each other’s joys and challenges. Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 Lutheran Family Service counselors are part of your Lutheran Christian community and are available when others are not or when you need a trusted outside perspective. You don’t have to continue to walk alone. Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org (515.573.3138 and LFSiowa.org)
MEMORY VERSE CHALLENGE - This week the verse

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Luke 18:14 – “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted." Our works never impress God; they are always lacking in some way and fall short of perfection. So there is no point in taking pride in them. But a broken and contrite heart the Lord will not despise — and the works that flow from a broken and contrite heart are indeed pleasing to the Lord in and through Christ. These works will be used by the Lord for His purposes and to His glory!
