POSSIBLE VOLUNTEER OPERTUNITIES Have you ever wondered what the Altar Guild does or the ushers or even some of the other groups around here? The Food pantry, Care-n-Concern, the sewing circle are always looking for people to be a part of their group. The different boards will welcome those that would like to help. Either ask who is in charge of what you are interested in or leave your name in the office so we can get someone to answer your questions.
A LIFE QUOTE “Take heart and have hope, God’s people! Even though it appears as though we have been abandoned, that our existence here seems innocuous, not making a difference to our communities, we are not those things. God is not done with us yet. He only asks that we remain faithful because He is ALWAYS faithful.” Deaconess Janet Nicol, Word of Hope – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • lutheransforlife.org “Hurting from abortion? Word of Hope can help. word-of-hope.org; 888.217.8679.”
BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Maybe you are experiencing some of the greatest joys of your life right now, or perhaps you feel you are in the lowest of valleys. God knows what you’re experiencing. In fact, He has known of your highs and lows all along. Take a moment to recall one of the best times in your life and one of the most difficult. God was there. Both times. He promises to always be with you, and He keeps every one of His promises. Your circumstances will change, as will your emotional responses. But the one constant in your life on which you can depend? His faithfulness. “I will never leave you nor forsake you…Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:5,8 Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org

2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR MINISTRY THEME: ABIDE IN CHRIST
Our ministry theme for the 2025-2026 school year is “Abide in Christ.” This comes from our theme Scripture verse from 1 John 4:13, “By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.”
“No one can have genuine faith in Jesus as the Savior of the world unless God’s Spirit creates and sustains that faith. It is never a mere physiological brain activity or an act of our own will. Genuine saving faith in Jesus cannot exist without the testimony of God’s Spirit. The apostles preached and recorded the Gospel by the power of Christ’s Spirit, and we have received and believed the Gospel by the power of that same Spirit.” (The Lutheran Study Bible)
We will learn what it means for us to “ABIDE in Christ and He in us!”
Saturday, August 16: Valley Work Bee is scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, from 9 am until 12 noon. We will be preparing the building and grounds to welcome back our students and families for the 2025-26 school year. Students may count these hours toward their Christian service hours, and families toward their Family Crusader hours. 20 hours are needed to receive the Family Crusader Grant.
Wednesday, August 20: Family Visit Day and School Supplies Drop Off Day is Wednesday, August 20th, during the following times: 10 am to 12 noon, 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Bring your school supplies and drop them off while having a chance to visit with your child’s teachers. Elementary teachers will contact families individually to set up a time so look for their email early August.
Romans 8:18 – “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” It is very easy to get caught up in the present and lose track of our ultimate destiny in the Kingdom of God. St. Paul encourages us to keep eternity in mind. This certainly has an application to our support for the Gospel. If we keep our focus on “the glory to be revealed,” we will see our tithes and offerings in a new light.
